Our appointments are 10 minutes long - but this includes the time taken for the doctor to look at your records, wash their hands and write up the notes at the end!
If your condition is not urgent we strive to provide an appointment to see a doctor within two working days, though you may have longer to wait to see a specific GP. Locum GP’s are rarely used but may occasionally be present in the practice to cover leave and training commitments. Some appointments should be longer - if you know you need an examination, a smear or swabs, or to talk for a long time (perhaps about a mental health problem) then please book a double slot, ie 20 minutes.
If you are booking an appointment for an annual review, please bear in mind that you must book a DOUBLE appointment for each condition.
If you feel you require an urgent appointment for an acute condition, you will be offered a bried assessment appointment for that day. This may not be at a time most convenient for you, but you will be seen.
Please say immediately if your call is an emergency. If necessary your call may be directed to a GP or Nurse to speak to you in order to assess the problem and advise you on the correct course of action.
We now operate a system for telephone consultations but these are only bookable by the GP - we need to make sure that these appointments are safe and reliable for you. If you require advice please contact a member of the reception team who will forward your query to a doctor or nurse. You may be asked to contact the surgery again later in the day for the response.
Specialist and Hospital Care
If a GP or another member of our health care team believes you need hospital treatment or specialist care elsewhere, they will ask you where and when you would like to go.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
